Acting on a tip-off from a local source, Byculla Police on Thursday night apprehended three men from the Malwani area. During questioning, the suspects confessed to the murder of 43-year-old Fahim Nazir Sayyed, also known as Fahim Machmach. Sayyed had been reported missing 15 days ago, with his wife lodging a missing person's complaint at Malwani Police Station last month.

According to police sources, the accused claimed that they killed Sayyed by hacking him to death. They then disposed of his body by tying it in a gunny sack and dumping it in an open nullah on Marve Road, Malad West.

Malwani Police are now seeking custody of the accused to investigate further into the motive and circumstances surrounding the crime. A search operation is also underway to recover the victim's body.

Senior Inspector Chimaji Adhav of Byculla Police Station confirmed the case, while Senior Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar of Malwani Police Station stated that the victim's body has yet to be recovered, and the police are actively searching the drain for it.
