Hina Khan slams alcohol-blaming after rape-murder case in J & K

After the horrifying Nishat rape and murder case in Jammu & Kashmir, a furious Hina Khan took to her Instagram Stories to explain the difference between rape and sexual assault, criticize the tendency to blame alcohol for such crimes, and more, as many tried to shift the blame onto alcohol after the incident unfolded.  A Rape is a Rape- Hina Khan  Hina penned on her Instagram stories, "Can someone for gods sake teach these Morons the Difference between s*xual assault and rape.. A Rape is a Rape. A Murder is a Murder. A Sexual Assault may differ in description but it's just the Precursor of Rape. It only means that the perpetrators COULD NOT do it rather than DID NOT do it. A Rapist blames everything else than Himself. Don't act like that Criminal. Don't use Alcohol to give the Criminal a 'Free Get Away Card'. Do not Justify Rape. Do not even Justify Sexual Assault. Not in the name of Religion, Community, Geography or Attire. These Demons Exist everywhere, in every community, every religion..lurking for Opportunity." Hina Khan on people blamining alcohol Hina further asked everyone to stop blaming alcohol as the reason behind such crimes. "Alcohol causes many things but it doesn't make a Good Man a Rapist! Stop Alcohol Blaming and Escapism. Good Men can Handle Alcohol just as they Handle Superior Physical Power compared to a Woman, they use it to Protect Women." the diva said. She added, "I am not advocating consumption of alcohol..., but I don't appreciate people straight up blaming alcohol alone for this gruesome act." Hina also asked everyone to stop mincing words when talking about crimes committed by Kashmiri Muslims. Her note read, "It's high time we call out what's happened without mincing words just because it's done by a Kashmiri Muslim and blame Alcohol for your so called Agenda.." For the unversed, recently a nomadic woman was allegedly raped and murdered in the Nishat area of Srinagar. If the sources are to be believed, four individuals have been arrested in the matter and produced before the CJM Court. The accused have been sent to six days police custody for further probe. Rahul Vaidya calls Virat Kohli a ‘joker’, claims cricketer blocked him

One like, and it left the internet buzzing. Now, the situation has heated up, with Rahul Vaidya calling out Virat Kohli for putting the blame on the Instagram algorithm after he liked a picture of Avneet Kaur. After the chatter began that Virat had liked a picture of Avneet, the ace cricketer put out a clarification note saying it was due to a change in the algorithm.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Instant Bollywood (@instantbollywood) Rahul Vaidya targets Virat Kohli After Virat's clarification came out, singer and Bigg Boss 16 fame Rahul K Vaidya blasted Kohli for what he called a baseless explanation. In a video, Rahul said, "Main kehna chahta hoon ki aaj ke baad aisa ho sakta hai ki algorithm bohot saare photos like karde jo maine nahi kare. It is Instagram's mistake, okay?" Virat Kohli blocks Rahul Vaidya Rahul also claimed that Kohli has blocked him on Instagram because of the post, though he added it might just be an 'Instagram glitch', as the RCB star himself had suggested. "So guys, Virat Kohli has blocked me, as you all know. I think that too is an Instagram glitch. Virat Kohli didn't block me. Instagram ke algorithm ne bola hoga Virat Kohli ko ki, 'Ek kaam kar, main tere behalf pe Rahul Vaidya ko block kar deti hoon.' Hain na? (Instagram's algorithm told Virat Kohli, 'I'll block Rahul Vaidya on your behalf.') Right?" he signed off. After Rahul's videos caught Virat's fans' attention, they severely trolled him. This made Rahul put out another message where he indirectly called Virat a joker. In his Instagram story, Rahul said, "Virat Kohli's fans are even bigger jokers than Virat!" He went on to express his anger over the abuse targeted at his family, saying, "And now you are abusing me — that's fine — but you are abusing my wife and my sister, who have nothing to do with this! So I was right. That's why you all Virat Kohli fans are jokers! 2 kaudi ke (worthless) jokers."

Kunal Karan Kapoor as Lakshmanappa Swaminarayana Bhattaru

Kunal Karan Kapoor joins Tenali Rama, marks debut in period costume drama

He never takes decisions lightly — there’s often a great deal of thought behind them. Kunal Karan Kapoor, who shot to fame with Left Right Left (2006) and followed it up with Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha (2012), Doli Armaano Ki (2015), Ziddi Dil Maane Na (2021), and Udaariyaan (2024), with long gaps in between, is the latest entrant in the show Tenali Rama. After featuring in several fiction shows, this marks his foray into a period costume drama. “I have always been skeptical about doing a costume drama,” confesses the actor — not because he finds them over-the-top, but because he feared he wouldn’t be able to do justice to the role of army doctor-turned-detective Lakshmanappa Swaminarayana Bhattaru. While he enjoys a good challenge, this show holds special meaning for him. “My dad used to watch the show, and this one is for him.” Kapoor says he arrived on set without any expectations, but soon “fell in love with the whole process.” “I honestly had no idea how a costume drama is shot, so I am going with the flow,” says the actor, who has been filming for the past eight days. “It takes a considerable amount of time [to get ready] compared to my other shows. While normally I’d be ready in five to 10 minutes, here, it takes close to an hour because of the costume, make-up, teeka, hair, and the turban,” explains Kapoor, who is thoroughly enjoying the cheerful spirit of the cast, regardless of the workload. “It feels like I’ve known them for years — especially Krishna Bharadwaj [who plays Tenali Rama].” Reminiscing about the 1990s, when he was an eight-year-old fan of Tenali Rama, Kapoor shares, “Tenali Rama used to be one of those few shows which was telecast in colour at that time. It has a universal appeal because the stories are timeless. It was a huge hit back then. The fact that I am playing a role adjacent to Tenali is an honour — to be in that costume, say those lines, and be part of this rich cultural heritage.” Other representations of Tenali Rama 1956: Tenali Ramakrishna starring A Nageswara Rao (Telugu film).1956: Tenali Raman starring Sivaji Ganesan (Tamil film).1982: Hasyaratna Ramakrishna starring Anant Nag (Kannada film).1990: Tenali Rama aired on Doordarshan (TV show).2003: The Adventures of Tenali Raman was produced by Cartoon Network (Animated series).

Ajaz Khan & Ullu App controversy: Police records App's manager's statement

One of the episodes of the show "House Arrest" on the Ullu app has been embroiled in controversy. After objection was raised that obscene content was shown in the show, a case was registered at the Amboli police station in Mumbai.   In the latest update, the Amboli police recorded the statement of the manager of the Ullu app on Sunday. It is also believed that summons will soon be issued to the owner of the Ullu app and the show's host, Ajaz Khan. One of the contestants of the show, Gehana Vasisth, urged the government to file a case against Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, and Radhika Apte as well for exposing themselves on the screen. Sharing a video, Gehana said, "I request you all, especially Priyanka Chaturvedi mam, and Chitra Wagh mam to please make it equal for everyone. Just like you have filed a case against Ajaz (Khan), the Ullu app, and the producers of the show "House Arrest", similarly please file a case against Priyanka Chopda, Radhika Apte, and Ranveer Singh." "They are also the citizens of our respected country and are equally responsible for what they are showing to the public. They have fans in millions and the youth looks up to them. So kindly consider my request," she added. The controversy erupted after a video from "House Arrest" went viral on social media. The clip featured host Ajaz Khan asking the contestants to enact sex positions in front of the camera. Upset by the content in the video, the National Commission for Women (NCW) issued summons to Ajaz Khan and Vibhu Agarwal, CEO of Ullu App. Taking to their official X handle, the commission wrote, "Viral clips show women being coerced into intimate acts on camera. NCW slams the platform for promoting vulgarity & violating consent." This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Ajaz Khan faces fresh trouble as actress accuses him of rape; FIR registered

It looks like problems are not dying anytime soon for Bigg Boss 7 fame Ajaz Khan, has now been booked for rape by Charkop Police in Mumbai following a complaint filed by an actress who accused him of sexually assaulting her under the pretext of marriage. This fresh FIR against Ajaz came just as he was already in hot water for his show House Arrest, where he asked a female contestant to enact a sex position in the name of entertainment. Ajaz Khan faces rape charges The new case was registered under the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 64, 64(2)(M), 69, and 74, and further investigation is underway, police officials confirmed. According to the complaint, the actress alleged that Khan promised her a role in his OTT show House Arrest and other projects. She claimed that when the show began, he proposed to her and assured her of marriage. The complainant further stated that on March 25, Ajaz Khan raped her at his home after making a false promise of marriage. She added that Khan again sexually assaulted her a few days later, repeating the promise of marriage. The actress claimed that Khan assured her he would take full responsibility for her and even told her that his religion permits four marriages. The House Arrest controversy The Charkop Police are looking into the details of the incident, while a separate FIR against Khan was already filed at Amboli Police Station over his OTT show House Arrest following a complaint by Bajrang Dal. The OTT platform Ullu had streamed the show, which has now been taken down following widespread backlash and demands for a ban. Maharashtra BJP Mahila Morcha President Chitra Wagh had earlier called the show "nothing but the epitome of vulgarity" and demanded strict action. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken note of the controversy and has summoned Ullu CEO Vibhu Agarwal and Ajaz Khan to appear on May 9 in connection with the charges related to obscene content and alleged exploitation. Officials said Mumbai Police are ensuring that both the actor and the OTT platform's decision-makers face consequences under the applicable laws. (Inputs from IANS)

Mahhi Vij with her kids, Tara, Khushi and Rajveer

Mother's Day 2025: Mahhi Vij talks about trolling over foster vs biological kids

Becoming a foster parent to two children to give them the best life possible, only to be trolled relentlessly, can make anyone question their choices. For Mahhi Vij, this journey has been anything but easy. Despite showering her foster kids, Rajveer and Khushi, with the same love she gives her biological daughter Tara, she’s been subjected to harsh judgment on social media. In a special Mother’s Day interview with us at Mid-day, Mahhi opened up about how she’s dealing with constant criticism online. Mahhi Vij on online trolling Mahhi shared how people dissect her reels and everything that she posts, and still question her parenting when it comes to Tara and Khushi. She said, “Even if I have a reel where I’m holding Tara and Khushi, and I go close to Tara, they say, ‘She has her own child, so look what she is doing. She didn’t hold Khushi’s hand and all’.” On handling trolls, Mahhi said, “Trolling is part of social media. You do good, they’ll troll you. You do bad, they’ll troll you. It doesn’t affect me anymore. They even trolled Khushi for wearing makeup.” How Rajveer and Khushi reacts to trolls Rajveer and Khushi are grown-up kids now and are very much aware of what social media says about Mahhi. Speaking about how they take such judgment, Mahhi shared, “Khushi and Rajveer are pretty grown up to be able to watch YouTube. They read the comments, and they ask, ‘Mom, they’re so bad. Are there such people in the world?’ So, I tell them not to read.” The bond between three kids For Mahhi, Tara, Rajveer, and Khushi are all equals. But how much do the two love the actress’ biological daughter? Revealing the bond they share, Mahhi said, “Throughout my pregnancy with Tara, Khushi was my support. She supported me when I had to get shots; she would tell the nurse, ‘If you don’t give the shot properly, we won’t call you.’ So, she was there throughout. Khushi and Rajveer were on cloud nine; they were very happy about having a baby. Many people told me there would be jealousy between them, but they are very careful about her. They are very loving and protective towards her.” Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali welcomed their daughter, Tara, on August 21, 2019. Before her birth, the couple had adopted two children, Rajveer and Khushi. Tara arrived eight years after their marriage.
