29 April,2025 03:16 PM IST | Mumbai | IANSThere is very little that Vijayendra Kumeria has not done in television. From playing supporting characters to the antagonist and the lead, he has explored it all. Despite being in the industry since 2011, the actor says monotony has never struck him because he has been lucky enough to get roles with plenty of layers. “My character always evolves with the story. [In Jagriti—Ek Nayi Subah], I started out as an anti-hero, but now he has turned positive. When I was doing Udaan, it was a hardcore negative role, then he transformed. In Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye, I played the antagonist till the end. This breaks the monotony because I tend to get bored with vanilla characters,” says the actor, adding that he ensures all his characters have a spark without going over the top. Two months ago, Kumeria, who had just wrapped up Deewaniyat, was roped in to play the lead role of Suraj Thakur in Jagriti. The response, he says, has been positive so far. “The show is being received well, the TRPs have improved after the leap. I am happy with the performance of the show,” says Kumeria. While the offer had him hooked, the reason he says he took it up was the flawless script. “Rarely do you get scripts where you don’t have to make last-minute changes on set while shooting. Jagriti is one script where the storyline is proper and logical without loopholes.” Besides being consistent on set, Kumeria, who is also a producer, says his experience behind the camera has taught him never to waste time. “Acting has always been my first love, but I have explored producing, and would also love to direct someday. Although, it is much easier being an actor because you only have to concentrate on your performance. As a producer, one has to take care of the set, finances, production team, and the artistes. It’s a difficult process to wear the producer’s hat. A minute wasted is a loss for the producer. That is why I come early on set, finish my make-up, and avoid taking retakes. I am a producer’s actor.”
29 April,2025 07:32 AM IST | Mumbai | Letty Mariam AbrahamTelevision actor Gulki Joshi, who rose to prominence with her shows Phir Subah Hogi and Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja, recalled the time when she was nearly molested outside an event where she presented an award to cricket star MS Dhoni. In a recent conversation, the actress talked about how security had to intervene to save her from the crowd. Gulki recalls a visit to Ranchi During her chat with Filmymantra, Gulki recalled the incident that happened in her and MS Dhoni's hometown, Ranchi, during IPL, where she visited to present an award to him. The actress shared that her show Nadaan Parindey was running successfully, and because of its popularity, she was invited to attend an event. ‘I was completely mobbed’- Gulki While remembering her visit, Gulki Joshi recalled the horrific incident and shared, "As soon as I stepped outside, I was completely mobbed by a crowd. Mobbed to the level of being scared. It wasn’t just excitement — it became physically overwhelming to the point where I genuinely felt threatened." ‘I could be molested right there’- Gulki Recalling how the situation escalated, she added, "Amid the pushing, shoving, and chaos, the horrifying thought crossed my mind that I could be molested right there in the crowd. Thankfully, security personnel intervened at the right moment. Just as things were spiralling out of control, the security team arrived and somehow managed to pull me out of the mob. They whisked me away to safety. But the fear lingered. It shook me. That was the only time I’ve ever truly been afraid of the crowd, of the people.” Gulki on meeting MS Dhoni Gulki was invited to present an award to Dhoni, and while everything else about that trip gives her chills, meeting the former captain of the Indian cricket team was special for her. Talking about meeting Dhoni, Gulki shared, "When I met Mr. Dhoni, he was everything you’d hope a hero to be — humble, warm, and grounded. Even though he must have been exhausted after the match, he patiently met every fan, smiled, took pictures, and made everyone feel special. In that moment, I realised what true talent is. No arrogance, no drama — just pure, unfiltered humility. It really stayed with me. It reminded me that real talent shines the brightest when it’s combined with real humility."

There is a lot of chatter, especially with speculation that Parth’s character, ACP Ayushman, might only be around for a few weeks. To clear the air, mid-day caught up with the actor himself. Samthaan, who rose to prominence with his show Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan, was quick to respond when asked if his character had entered CID to stay. “It’s a mystery for me too,” he said. But stepping into CID came with a wave of online backlash, a first for him. When asked about being trolled, he shared, “I have never faced hatred; I’ve always been away from that zone. But this time, there were comparisons.” Did any of it lead to him feeling demotivated? Not at all. “I knew I could pull it off, and the director kept me motivated. Daya sir and Abhijeet sir were also there to help me out. With that, I decided to forget what people were saying,” he said. Parth on choosing CID Although viewers often associate him with the “lover boy” image, Parth Samthaan didn’t return to television with a romantic drama simply because he “couldn’t find a compelling love story.” Still, choosing CID wasn’t an easy bet for him, as he himself didn’t believe that he could ever take up such roles. Excitedly, he shared, “When I was offered CID, I first thought it was some kind of joke.” But later, some self-introspection led him to believe that this could be the perfect comeback to television. While Samthaan was initially hesitant, he decided to go with the flow. “My life in television has never been planned. I’ve taken all the unplanned routes, so I hope this gets equal love for CID as much as I have gotten for KYY or Kasautii,” he said. Watch CID on Netflix!
