A man was arrested after two live cartridges were allegedly found in his bag before he could board a flight at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur district of Maharashtra, the police said on Wednesday, reported the PTI.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials at the airport discovered the cartridges in the shaving kit carried by 40-year-old passenger, an official said.


The man is a resident of Tajbagh area in Nagpur district.


During security screening at the airport, the man was allegedly found with the live cartridges. He was detained by the officials before he could board the flight, police said, according to the PTI.

"He was to travel on an IndiGo flight from Nagpur to Mumbai on Tuesday," an official said.

Upon questioning about the bullets, he claimed that he brought the cartridges unknowingly from a friend's farmhouse in Ramtek city.

The Nagpur Police officials later reached his home and the farmhouse to conduct a searches but found nothing suspicious.

He was produced in a court and remanded to police custody, the officials said, as per the PTI.

They said that further investigations in the matter were underway.

Man held for shooting dead his brother using air gun

Meanwhile in an another incident in Nagpur, a man was held for allegedly killing his elder brother using an air gun, a police official said, according to the PTI.

The police said that the deceased, a 35-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his younger brother with an air gun in Dhapewada village in Nagpur district on Wednesday following a quarrel between the two.

The younger brother is reportedly alcoholic and had drinking problems, police said, reported the PTI. 

The accused was identified as Jagadeesh Singh Bhond (32) who is reportedly addicted to drinking alcohol and 'hunting', an official said on Wednesday.

He shot dead his brother who was identified as Indrajeet following an argument, the official said.

Following the incident, a police team rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. He has been booked on the charge of murder, the police said.

Further investigations were underway, it said.
