Ahead of the IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Mumbai Indians (MI) announced that young spinner Vignesh Puthur has been ruled out for the remainder of the ongoing cash-rich league.
The spinner sustained bone stress reactions in both shins, MI stated.
The five-time champions have roped in leg-spinner Raghu Sharma as a replacement for injured Puthur. The 31-year-old Sharma was a part of MI's support bowling unit and will now feature in the main squad.
He has represented Punjab and Puducherry in the domestic circuit. In 11 first-class matches, he has taken 57 wickets at an average of 19.59, including best figures of 7/56. He has also claimed 14 wickets in 9 List A games, and 3 wickets in 3 T20s.

The IPL 2025 match against RR is scheduled to be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium at 7.30 pm. Ahead of the match, the matchup between Vaibhav Suryavanshi and MI's lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be worth watching.
The 14-year-old RR batsman will be high on confidence after scoring a century in RR's previous match against Gujarat Titans (GT).
Currently, the Hardik Pandya-led MI is placed in the third position on the points table with six victories and four losses. Whereas RR has managed to clinch victories in three matches and suffered seven defeats.
The Mumbaikars will aim for a victory by a big margin in order to get an early edge in the playoffs race of the ongoing league.
