Vaibhav Suryavanshi struck the fastest hundred (35 balls) by any Indian and the country’s youngest ever in the IPL as Rajasthan Royals defeated Gujarat Titans by eight wickets in their contest here on Monday.
Suryavanshi hit 101 off 38 balls with as many as 11 sixes and seven fours as he completed a century at the age of 14 years and 32 days.
The record of fastest century in IPL belongs to former West Indies batter Chris Gayle, who had brought up his triple figure mark in 30 balls for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors India in April 2013.
Chasing a stiff target of 210 on a friendly wicket, Rajasthan Royals went past the winning line, making 212 for two in 15.5 overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 40-ball 70 not out in the chase. Earlier, skipper Shubman Gill was the epitome of class in his 50-ball-84 that took GT to a healthy 209-4.
The GT skipper scored his fourth half-century with the help of five fours and four sixes, adding 93 for the opening stand with an in-form Sai Sudharsan (39 off 30 balls).
GT were ready to capitalise on a solid platform laid by the duo and Jos Buttler (50 not out off 26 balls) made a mincemeat of Royals’s ordinary bowling attack from thereon, smashing four sixes apart from three boundaries.
Gill displayed the cricketing smarts by picking the shorter boundary in one of the leg-side and the RR bowlers were guilty of drifting towards his pads.
