Twelve out of the 48 departments within the Maharashtra government have secured a perfect score in their performance review, based on the 100-day targets set by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Chief Minister, who resumed office in December last year, had launched a 100-day programme aimed at accelerating governance and ensuring measurable outcomes across departments.
As per PTI reports, this performance evaluation was part of a comprehensive accountability exercise, with each department assigned specific deliverables to achieve within the stipulated time frame. The goal was to foster a results-oriented culture within the administrative machinery.
Fadnavis, writing on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), revealed the department-wise performance statistics, stating that 12 departments successfully fulfilled 100 per cent of their designated objectives. These top-performing departments include Water Resources, Home, Rural Development, Animal Husbandry, Ports, Higher and Technical Education, Labour, Textiles, Cultural Affairs, Mining, Dairy Development, and the Employment Guarantee Scheme.

In addition to these, 18 departments were reported to have achieved between 80 and 99 per cent of their targets, a performance the Chief Minister described as “commendable progress”. He reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining this momentum and supporting lagging departments to improve their output.
Ten departments have delivered between 60 and 79 per cent of their stated targets. Meanwhile, eight departments fell short of the 60 per cent mark. Fadnavis did not disclose which departments these were but stated that steps would be taken to assess bottlenecks and ensure corrective measures.
Speaking at a press interaction following the announcement, Fadnavis emphasised that the 100-day tracker was not a one-time evaluation. “This is part of a continuous performance monitoring system. Our aim is to bring transparency and efficiency in governance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar unfurled the national flag at the Pune City Police Headquarters Parade Ground on the occasion of Maharashtra's 65th Foundation Day.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Pawar addressed the inclusion of a caste census in the national census.
Pawar said, "The demand for caste-based census has been longstanding, as it helps in understanding the composition of different sections of society and aids in policy-making decisions. Considering this, the Union Cabinet has made the decision. Personally, at the state government and NCP levels, I extend my gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, and the entire Cabinet for this decision. The opposition has always argued that if a good decision is taken, it is attributed to electoral motives; and if no decision is taken, they claim the government fails to act. But that is their approach. Now tell me - Lok Sabha elections are still 4.5 years away, with only some assembly elections in between."
