Citizens across India have welcomed the precision missile strikes carried out by the Indian Armed Forces on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Thanking the Central government for Operation Sindoor, many described it as a fitting tribute to the victims of the Pakistan-funded terror attack in Pahalgam last month.
Sandhya Shekhar Dedge, who was in Pahalgam with her family when terrorists went on a killing spree on April 22, said, “We are really happy today that our armed forces have avenged the deaths by destroying terror camps and infrastructure in Pakistan. Congratulations to all Indians. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Operation Sindoor has taught these Pakistan-backed terrorists a solid lesson.”

Dedge, a resident of Pune, added, “Now that the government has retaliated, I feel relieved. Kashmir is an integral part of India, and I feel proud to hear about this operation. I plan to visit Kashmir again this Diwali and enjoy the valley. Thank you, Armed Forces, for restoring my confidence.”
Girish Naikwadi, another Pune-based tourist who had visited Pahalgam just three days before the April 22 attack, called it a “much-awaited operation.” “The entire country was waiting for such a decisive step. We welcome the Indian Armed Forces’ bold move—they deserve a standing ovation and a big salute,” he told mid-day.
However, Mumbai-based academician Nandini Sardesai, former head of the department of Sociology at St Xavier's College, sounded a note of caution. “It’s a proactive step—but can we hit all camps? Such provocation may trigger violent retaliation. Ultimately, it’s ordinary citizens and our soldiers who suffer the consequences,” she said.
Sardesai also raised concerns about the original attack, asking, “Why did the Pahalgam attack happen? Was it due to an intelligence failure? The silence is deafening.”

Following the launch of Operation Sindoor, the Ministry of Defence issued a statement: “Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory. No Pakistani military facilities were targeted. India has demonstrated restraint in choosing its targets and method of execution.”
Welcoming the airstrikes, Indian Sunni leader Saeed Noori said, “The Indian Army’s decisive midnight strike on nine terror camps in Pakistan has shaken the enemy. The entire nation is celebrating the success of Operation Sindoor—sweets are being distributed in joy.”
“From day one, Muslims have demanded strict action and airstrikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan. Now that the high-intensity Operation Sindoor has been executed, we feel relieved and wholeheartedly congratulate the Indian Armed Forces,” Noori added.
