The IMD suggested that the citizens must take precautions while moving out during the period.

Mumbai has been receiving moderate and light spells of rains on regular intervals since Tuesday night.

Rain and thunder activity began late Tuesday across Mumbai, Thane, and parts of Palghar, following a day of unusually high temperatures.

Areas in city including Dahisar, Borivali, Andheri, Powai, Lalbaug, and parts of the eastern and western suburbs experienced sudden gusts followed by spells of moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunder.

On May 6, the IMD had issued a 'yellow alert' for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and some other parts of Maharashtra, predicting thunderstorm and light rains.

A yellow alert remains in place for Mumbai until Thursday morning, with rain and thunderstorms expected to continue over the next few days. The IMD has also issued a nowcast warning for light rainfall in isolated pockets of the city over the next 3-4 days.
