After a string of period dramas, Jubilee star Sidhant Gupta kicks off workshops for a mass entertainer set in the present day; to gain weight for the role

So far, Sidhant Gupta has been a resident of the past, featuring in period dramas Jubilee (2023), Freedom at Midnight (2024) and the recent Black Warrant. Now, it’s back to the present for the actor. He has begun prep for his next, a web series that is set in modern times, and designed for the masses, in a departure from his previous serious offerings. “It’s definitely more mass-oriented than what I’ve done in Jubilee or Freedom at Midnight. It’s still early days, but it’s exciting to explore a different side of me as an actor,” he shares.
While he is tight-lipped about details regarding the series, the actor promises we’ll see him in a different avatar. “I’m gaining weight for this role and doing intense prep,” says Gupta, who was busy with workshops on Wednesday, which marked his 36th birthday. “It’s a working birthday, and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he smiles. Sources have told us that the show explores a gritty world, and is expected to roll between June and July.
