Tammy’s on a signing spree
mid-day had reported that Sidharth Malhotra and Ekta Kapoor are collaborating on a mythological thriller titled Vvan, directed by Deepak Mishra (Open to experimentation, April 16). Now, we have learnt that Tamannaah Bhatia has been cast as the female lead, marking her first collaboration with Sidharth. A source close to the project revealed that Tamannaah is “on a signing spree” and has a well-written and meaty role in Vvan. We have learnt that the film’s story is based on a part of a folklore rooted in Hindu mythology, for which both the actors will undergo diction training. The project is scheduled to go on floors in June, and release next year. Vvan will be shot on location, with a significant portion apparently set in a forest in central India.
The star of the masses
Rajinikanth
Superstar Rajinikanth charmed his fans once again when he flew economy class on an IndiGo flight recently. A video shared on social media captured the moment as passengers cheered and took out their phones to capture a glimpse of the Thailaiva as soon as they spotted him entering the aircraft. Rajinikanth was seen graciously waving at the fans. Netizens are praising his humility, as he interacted with fellow passengers, without starry airs. This isn’t the first time Rajinikanth has surprised fans with his down-to-earth nature. In March last year, he was seen mingling with passengers on a flight from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh. On the work front, he has Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie and Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2 in his kitty.
Theatrical for a reason
Taapsee Pannu and Anubhav Sinha
Director Anubhav Sinha has requested the media to refer to his upcoming film as a “theatrical film” or “big screen film”. Anubhav, known for films like Mulk (2018), Article 15 (2019) and Thappad (2020), took to social media to share a behind-the-scenes picture and a note, stating, “The time has come to call them by different names... My next film should be called a ‘big screen film’ or a ‘theatrical film’.” He also clarified, “I don’t have any plans to make an OTT film, as of now. So, I couldn’t think of a name.” The yet-to-be-titled film is apparently a courtroom drama starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead, marking her third collaboration with the filmmaker. The film is said to be tackling a hard-hitting social issue.
Long-pending debut
Shah Rukh Khan and Sabyasachi Mukherjee

No one can replace Kiara
Kiara Advani
We have learnt that the calendar of Maddock Films’ Horror-Comedy Universe is facing a bit of a shake-up due to the postponement of their upcoming project, Shakti Shalini. The film is set to star Kiara Advani in the lead. However, the film now stands delayed by a year. According to reports, the delay is attributed to Kiara’s pregnancy, as she is expecting her first baby with Sidharth Malhotra. Despite speculation about recasting, the buzz is that the makers are keen on having Kiara headline the project. She is expected to return to work mid-next year.
