Nushrrat Bharuccha recently revealed that she auditioned for the role of Latika in Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire (2008). The role was ultimately portrayed by Freida Pinto. She claimed that she was told she was “too pretty” to play a slum girl. Nushrrat initially found the reason puzzling but later realised it made sense after watching the film, acknowledging that she wouldn’t have fit the role. She said that she understood the director’s perspective, noting that the character’s evolution wouldn’t have been believable with her in the film. On the work front, she was last seen in Chhorii 2, streaming on OTT.

Choreographer Dhanashree Verma is reportedly set to make her acting debut in the Telugu film, Akasam Daati Vastaava, a dance-centric film produced by Dil Raju. The movie, directed by Sri Sasi Kumar, will apparently feature a fresh star cast, details of which are still under wraps. Dhanashree, known for her work in music videos like Kamsin kali and Baby girl, is transitioning from choreography to cinema. More details on her role are awaited. Karan Singh Tyagi, director of Kesari Chapter 2, revealed that the film was initially without a title until Akshay Kumar suggested it. The filmmaker praised the title, saying it signifies revolution, valour, and bravery, perfectly capturing the film’s essence. The movie, also starring R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, has reportedly crossed R40 crore at the box office. Karan also hinted at future instalments, confirming that Akshay will lead them all, bringing forth stories of unsung heroes. “Akshay will spearhead them all... He’s synonymous with Kesari and stories of unsung heroes and their bravery and sacrifice.” On the work front, Akshay will next be seen in Welcome to the Jungle, Housefull 5, Bhooth Bangla, and many more.

Srinidhi Shetty recently revealed that she was initially considered for the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, opposite Ranbir Kapoor. She shared that she gave a screen test and received a great response, but she turned down the role as she felt that reprising a partnership with Yash, with whom she shared on-screen chemistry in KGF: Chapter 2, but this time as adversaries, might not work well with audience. Sakshi Tanwar, known for her roles in TV shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, is playing a maharani in The Royals. Sharing her experience playing a royal in the Netflix series, she said, “For the longest time, I have played characters on the other side of the table. So, I have always been an aam kumari. I have not even seen this life in real, forget about experiencing it. I come from a basic background. When I got a call for this character, I thought this couldn’t be true. Rangita [Nandy, producer] would insist I put red lipstick and I would say, ‘No let’s go with a neutral shade,’” she laughed.
