A viral video has been doing the rounds on social media, which shows singer Rekha Bhardwaj pausing her performance due to fireworks during her gig in Bhopal

Popular singer Rekha Bhardwaj, who has been the voice behind some iconic Bollywood songs like Namak Ishq Ka, Sasural Genda Phool, Kabira, and Phir Le Aya Dil, to name a few, was left annoyed after an interruption during her live show in Bhopal. A viral video has been doing the rounds on social media, which shows Rekha pausing her performance due to fireworks.
Rekha Bhardwaj miffed with organisers
In the clip that is being circulated online, Rekha is visibly miffed with the fireworks but patiently halts the show, saying, Yeh patakkhe bohut unmusical hai. Bohut ghalat waqt pe gaye hai (These fireworks are very unmusical. They went off at a very wrong time).”
“Bichare jo sogaye honge aas paas unko taqleef hogi (Those who fell asleep, they must be having a problem),” she adds.
However, when the fireworks continued despite her expressing dismay, Rekha calls out the organisers, asking them to take control of the situation. She says, “Can we please stop this? Yeh jo patakkhe. Bahut ho gaya (These fireworks. Enough now).”

Rekha didn’t want to be a professional singer
In an earlier interview with IANS, Rekha shared, "When I was starting off, there was no fire in me, in terms of making a career in music. I was a singer with zero ambition. The only passion I had, the fire I found was in my 'riyaaz'...I learnt classical music. And whenever I practiced my music, it was like I immersed myself in the sea."
"I had no idea or ambition to go about it, professionally. But yes, I wanted to become a classical singer and playback singing (and) Bollywood... everything happened by chance," said the singer who won a National Award in 2011 for the song Badi dheere jali from the film Ishqiya.
Rekha started her career with the independent music album Ishqa Ishqa in 2002, and the music still resonates with people. She is married to film director, composer, and playback singer Vishal Bhardwaj. He has directed iconic movies like Maqbool, Omkara, Kaminey, Haider, and Khufiya, among others.
“You can say my husband gives me more work than other music directors. Whether it is for my voice that caters to the genres like ghazal, classical, or folk -- Vishal understands my versatility,” added Rekha.
