A tragic accident occurred on February 22 when a section of the under-construction tunnel of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) in Nagarkurnool district, Telangana, collapsed. The incident took place just four days after construction work resumed following a long break. A three-meter stretch of the tunnel caved in, trapping at least eight laborers inside. While some workers were able to escape, the remaining trapped individuals are feared to be still stuck in the rubble. Authorities swiftly responded to the emergency, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and specialized rescue teams mobilized to carry out the operation.
