The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Mumbai on Wednesday as several parts of the city and Thane witnessed heavy rainfall.
The weather department has also predicted extremely heavy rain in several other parts of Maharashtra including Raigad, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nasik, Aurangabad, Jalna and Wardha.

As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai city received 32.5 mm rainfall from 8 am to 2pm on Wednesday. The eastern suburbs recorded 12.72 mm and western suburbs recorded 17.0 mm of rainfall.
Deputy director general at IMD, Mumbai, KS Hosalikar, said that forecast shows light to heavy rainfall on Wednesday in Maharashtra, especially over north Konkan, north Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and parts of Vidarbha.
