The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) declared the SSC (Std X) examination results on May 13. Mumbai division secured an impressive pass percentage of 95.84 per cent, emerging as the third-best performing division in the state, after Konkan and Kolhapur.

While Konkan topped the chart with a stellar 98.82 per cent pass rate, Kolhapur came second with 96.87 per cent. Mumbai followed closely, reaffirming its academic strength over other major divisions. Latur (95.28 per cent) and Nashik (95.29 per cent) also registered strong performances.

"This year's results reflect a solid academic performance across the state, with all divisions clocking over 90 per cent in pass percentages. The board's consistent focus on academic rigour and digital accessibility of resources has likely contributed to these outcomes," said a senior official from the board's Mumbai divisional office.

A total of 15,46,579 students from nine divisions - Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur and Konkan - appeared for the exam. Of them, 14,55,466 passed, registering an overall pass percentage of 94.10 per cent, a slight dip from last year's 95.81 per cent.

In Mumbai, 3,35,509 students appeared, and 3,21,566 passed - resulting in a pass percentage of 95.84 per cent.

"Konkan retained the top spot, while Nagpur slipped to the bottom among the nine divisions. Over the years, performance has improved steadily. During the pandemic years, we had to relax certain norms and reduce the syllabus. Since last year, the full syllabus has been reinstated, and results have been fluctuating based on paper difficulty. However, this year there was no loss of instructional time, and the syllabus was completed as planned," said MSBSHSE Chairman Sharad Gosavi.
