Maharashtra SSC results 2025: Shocks, surprises and stats

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Tuesday announced the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Std X examinations. The overall pass percentage for the state stood at an impressive 94.10 per cent, a slight dip of 1.71 per cent compared to last year's 95.81 per cent.

At a press conference in Pune, Board chairman Sharad Gosavi shared key highlights of the 2025 results. A total of 15,58,020 regular students had registered across the nine divisional boards - Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur, and Konkan. Of these, 15,46,579 students appeared, and 14,55,433 passed.

Once again, girls outperformed boys, with a pass percentage of 96.14 per cent compared to 92.31 per cent for boys.

The Konkan division emerged as the top performer with a 98.82 per cent pass rate, while Nagpur recorded the lowest at 90.78 per cent.

Among private candidates, 28,020 students appeared, and 22,518 passed - a pass percentage of 80.36 per cent. Meanwhile, repeaters saw a much lower pass rate of 39.44 per cent (9448 passed out of 23,954).

Students can download their provisional online marksheets from Tuesday and are advised to collect their official copies from their schools starting May 16.

Anxiety must be increasing in everyone's minds. However, parents and children should welcome the result very calmly. Have parents ensured that their child has had a proper breakfast and meal? Parents should take this care. Keep your mind calm, and most importantly, parents should behave patiently with their children. Do not give unnecessary reactions before anything happens. Maintain positive communication and keep the atmosphere light and cheerful. Do not rush to give any harsh reactions in front of the children. Do not dismiss your child based on a result that is not as expected. Do not criticize the child unnecessarily; support them. Spend today calmly and explore available paths from tomorrow. If your child is quiet, withdrawn, sad, not eating or sleeping, or crying due to an unfavourable result, first give them support and do not leave them alone. If this situation persists for 2-3 days, definitely consult a counsellor. If the result is as desired, celebrate its joy with your child. This celebration should happen as a family. One thing is certain: the way of celebrating joy should be ethical and positive and enhance their mental maturity. Do not provide opportunities for children to befriend unwanted addictions.
