Former West Indies batting great Desmond Haynes has been named as the representative of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) at the prestigious Cricket
Committee of the ICC.

Haynes, 69, scored 7487 runs in 116 Tests and 8648 runs in 238 ODIs. The ex-opener will replace Roger Harper in the committee.

An upset WICB believe the ICC has forgotten the glory days of West Indian cricket and that Haynes will hence air their views strongly at ICC meetings. The board members also feel that Haynes is a fine speaker and given the cricketing world is well aware of his credentials, his views will be heard patiently.

Apart from airing his views, Haynes will also try to convince the ICC top brass that West Indies should be treated fairly when it comes to allocation of matches.
