Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star pacer Mohammed Shami heaped praise on his skipper Pat Cummins, saying that the Australian's leadership brings out the best in players.

"Calmness is key in leadership. A calm captain can bring out the best in his players. Knowing each player's potential is crucial, and Pat Cummins does that exceptionally well," Shami said on JioHotstar.

The 34-year-old also emphasised Cummins' wealth of experience. Earlier, Jaydev Unadkat had lauded Cummins for his composure and clarity in communication, both on and off the field. "From a leadership point of view, he has been good in terms of passing on the messages and stuff like that. It's just that the momentum is not coming our way," he said.

Despite these positives, SRH has endured a tough IPL 2025 campaign, suffering seven defeats. With only three wins from 10 matches so far, the 'Orange Army' is currently languishing in ninth place on the points table.

The team is set to face Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, with the match scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM. However, ahead of this crucial fixture, SRH has been dealt a blow with the injury of 22-year-old batsman R Smaran, who has been ruled out.

Harsh Dubey has been named as his replacement. Notably, Smaran had himself come in earlier as a replacement for Adam Zampa. Dubey has been signed for Rs 30 lakh.

In their previous match on Friday, SRH fell short once again as Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their dominant streak at home. Gujarat defended a 200-plus target with clinical precision, securing a 38-run victory over the struggling Sunrisers.

GT’s innings was powered by a blistering 48 from Sudharsan, a commanding 76 from Gill, and a rollicking 64 off 37 balls from Buttler. Chasing a daunting 225, SRH faltered despite a spirited effort, losing wickets at regular intervals. The Titans' bowlers struck in packs, leaving Hyderabad in disarray and further diminishing their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.
