Following the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on tourists, families, friends, and neighbours of the victims across the country mourned their loss on Wednesday, and strongly condemned the attack.

An official confirmation of the casualty from the Jammu and Kashmir administration has not come yet. However, different state governments have released information on the citizens from their respective states who have lost their lives in the attack.


Ministers and officials from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat, Haryana, and more have talked about the deaths of residents of their respective states. Some state officials have also reached Srinagar to facilitate the smooth travel of the families affected by the attack.


In Pune, Maharashtra, Jamuna Jagdale, a relative of Suresh Jagdale, killed in the attack, could not hold her tears. She said that she had information about the body reaching her in the evening.

"The body is expected to reach here by today evening," Jagdale told reporters in Pune.

Chhattisgarh Minister Tank Ram Verma also met with the family of Dinesh Miraniya, where he said that he will ensure the last rites of Dinesh are performed in Raipur with the family.

"This is against humanity, through the government, the zilla parishad has also been given instructions that the last rites of Dinesh Miraniya will be performed, and it will be given the utmost respect while happening with family," he said.

With the mourning continuing across the country in Kochi, Kerala, the family of N Ramachandra mourned the loss of their family member.

Ramachandra's neighbour remembered him as a humble person, and condemned the "planned attack," telling ANI, "He was a humble person. This looks like a planned attack and an unfortunate incident. We are really shocked & upset with the incident."

In Karnal, Haryana, MLA Jagmohan Anand met the family of the Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was killed while he was on leave in J-K. Visuals from the family's residence showed Narwal's relatives weeping heavily, hugging the MLA and begging with folded hands.

Resident of Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, J Chandramouli was killed too. The neighbour of Chandramouli remembered how the deceased used to participate in society's functions and meetings.

"He purchased the fifth-floor flat three years back and was elected as vice president of the society. He used to attend association meetings and take a keen interest in the society's issues. He was very sociable and friendly, and he used to meet us too. He even attended the function," Ravikumar, the neighbour of the victim, told ANI.

Earlier today, in the aftermath of the attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security situation at the site of the terror attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran meadow.

The Union Minister first took an aerial stock of the region as he arrived at the site by helicopter, descending onto the meadow now bearing the scars of violence, earlier in the day. Amit Shah walked around the area amid tight security and was briefed by top officials on the current situation and ongoing operations in the area. (ANI)
