One of the victims include Raj Kumar Thapa, a Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services officer from Rajouri, who lost his life after his home was hit during the shelling.
Pakistani forces targeted civilian population with heavy shelling from across the border following India's 'Operation Sindoor', which destroyed terrorists. The shelling led to major damage to homes of locals in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Pakistani forces conducted heavy shelling in Poonch sector, damaging homes, water tanks, and other civilian infrastructure.
A strike was also reported near the main gate of the Aap Shambhu Temple in Jammu. Police and security agencies retrieved projectile fragments from the site following the attack. According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), no casualties occurred in this incident. Visuals from the area showed debris scattered between homes, with local residents narrowly escaping harm, reported ANI.
Cross-border shelling by Pakistan has also caused damage in Kupwara, Uri, and Poonch, including religious sites. Despite the continued attacks, locals have voiced their support for the Indian armed forces.
Meanwhile, Jammu Police and other agencies are recovering fragments of projectiles from impacted sites. Unexploded fragments were also found in Jammu's Bishnah and Lasjan areas, while splinters and debris were recovered in Akhnoor, though no major structural damage was reported, according to ANI.
