Srinagar: Two guerrillas were killed late on Sunday near the line of control (LoC) in Kupwara district of North Kashmir where a soldier had also been killed on Saturday.

Gunfights started in Tangdhar and Keran sectors of the LoC in Kupwara district during infiltration attempts by guerrillas on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Two militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight in Keran sector while one soldier was killed on Saturday in Tangdhar sector, defence spokesman, Lt. Col. N.N. Joshi said here in Srinagar.

Operations in those areas have not been called off yet as searches continue at both these places, Joshi added.

In Tangdhar a group of five to six heavily armed men were intercepted on Saturday after they managed to cross into the Indian side from Pakistan.

In Keran, army troopers again intercepted a group of seven to eight guerrillas on Sunday after they sneaked into the Indian side.
