NCW chairperson Kumarmangalam said the family had told the NCW team that when the girl was taken for a medical examination, “she was abused by the doctor, who asked a number of awkward questions and berated her”.
“The FIR in the case did not have sections of POCSO Act. When NCW members asked them, no police official gave a concrete answer,” she said.
DIG Meerut Range Laxmi Singh confirmed that POCSO Act has not yet been added in the FIR. Kumarmangalam said NCW members were counselling thesurvivors, as UP Police had not offered them any such assistance.
