The construction of a second foot overbridge (FOB) for Wankhede Stadium reached a key milestone early on Saturday, as five large steel girders were successfully placed across all active railway tracks.
This new foot overbridge is located at the southern end of the stadium. Last month, a similar bridge was completed at the northern end, improving accessibility to the stadium from both sides.
According to a Western Railway (WR) spokesperson, “Five steel girders, each spanning 41.80 metres, were launched for the Wankhede South foot overbridge between Churchgate and Marine Lines. The entire operation was carried out in just three hours, between 1.15 am and 4.15 am on April 20, using a 700-metric-tonne road crane.”
