Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has called for improved intelligence sharing and better use of technology for the security of Maharashtra—especially Mumbai, which has witnessed several terror attacks in the past. Following the army operation at the India-Pakistan border, Fadnavis convened a meeting to review the state’s security preparedness. In addition to concerned state government officials, the meeting was also attended by senior officials of the armed forces stationed in Mumbai, as well as representatives from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Mumbai Port Trust, National Stock Exchange, and Bombay Stock Exchange.

Both Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde also attended the crucial security meeting held at Varsha Bungalow—the official residence of the chief minister in Mumbai. During the meeting, Fadnavis emphasised the need to work closely with the defence forces to ensure better coordination and intelligence sharing for security purposes. “Along with the use of technology, a faster coordination mechanism needs to be built up,” Fadnavis said during the meeting, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.

The CM also praised the armed forces for their strength and the precision with which the Indian Army carried out Operation Sindoor. Further, he referred to past incidents when Mumbai, the financial capital of India, was attacked by terrorists aiming to target the country’s economic hub. “Mumbai is extremely important. In the times ahead, we must work with full strength. In such a situation, the exchange of intelligence is crucial. Everyone must be more vigilant regarding cybersecurity. Senior officials of the state government and defence forces must work together in greater coordination,” CM Fadnavis said.
