Following the escalating tensions on the border areas, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has decided to cancel the leaves of senior officials from the health, disaster management and other important departments.
On Friday, Fadnavis took stock of the security preparedness in the state. After the meeting, he directed that the leaves of all senior officials of key departments be cancelled.
The meeting chaired by the CM was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, as well as top state and Mumbai Police officers, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief and other key officials of the state administration.
Fadnavis also directed to emphasise on conducting drills, spreading awareness about blackouts and establishing war rooms in each district.

Fadnavis has directed the cyber cell and the police to monitor the social media handles that are helping Pakistan. “Action should be taken against such erring people,” Fadnavis instructed.
In order to ensure quick response to any issues related to the current situation, every District Collector will be given an emergency fund to purchase urgent materials immediately. “Apart from this, if any important proposal comes in this regard, approve it within one hour,” CM stated, according to the release.
Other key points discussed in the meeting
- Officials have been asked to study the Central Government's 'Union War Book' in depth and inform everyone about it.
- CM said a meeting of all the civic bodies in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) area must be held and the municipal authorities must be asked to create awareness on 'blackout'. Cooperative housing societies also need to be involved in this, the release said.
- Considering the possibility of an increase in individuals involved in anti-national activities, the police should conduct more combing operations and intensify patrolling.
- Filming military preparation-related activities and broadcasting them on social media is a crime, and criminal cases should be immediately filed against erring people.
- Fishing trawlers must be hired as needed to enhance maritime security.
- Invite the heads of all three military services and the Coast Guard in Mumbai to the next meeting through video-conferencing for greater coordination between the government and the security apparatus.
