In view of rising border tensions following Operation Sindoor, Thane district officials have urged social organisations, training institutes, and ex-servicemen’s associations to submit manpower and resource details to strengthen emergency response systems

Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of Operation Sindoor, the Thane district administration has issued an urgent appeal to social organisations, vocational training institutions, and associations of ex-servicemen to share details of their available manpower and resources to strengthen emergency response mechanisms across the district.
According to PTI, the appeal comes as part of precautionary measures taken by local authorities to enhance readiness in the face of potential emergency situations. The district administration has asked that all relevant data be submitted within the next three days to the respective tehsildars in rural talukas and to the Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) in areas falling under municipal corporations.
In an official statement reported by PTI, a spokesperson from the administration said, “This information will be beneficial for making emergency management in the district more efficient and for providing immediate help in any necessary situation.” The spokesperson further highlighted the importance of leveraging the collective strength of the community by combining the reach of social organisations, the skills nurtured by training institutions, and the experience of ex-servicemen.
The administration has clearly outlined the type of information required from each category of stakeholders.
Social organisations are expected to submit the number of their active volunteers, details of any special skills their members possess—such as first aid training, search and rescue experience, or psychological counselling—and an inventory of any emergency-related equipment in their possession, including vehicles, medical supplies, and communication tools.
Vocational and skill development training institutions have been asked to provide comprehensive data on their trained personnel. This includes the number of individuals trained in various technical or emergency-related fields, along with a list of training materials and logistical resources at their disposal.
Associations of ex-servicemen, who bring a wealth of experience in crisis management and leadership, have been requested to report the total number of members affiliated with them, a summary of their specialised skills, and any other resources they may contribute during emergencies.
The initiative is aimed at creating a cohesive and rapid response framework across the district, ensuring that civilian resources can be swiftly mobilised to support professional emergency services if the situation demands.
