Cannes 2025: Tom Cruise walks red carpet to the theme music of MI

Three years after flying into the Cannes Film Festival with Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise returned to the Croisette on Wednesday for the grand premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. He walked the red carpet alongside the film’s director Christopher McQuarrie and the entire team of MI8, all striking a pose together as fans cheered from the sidelines. Tom Cruise and the rest of the cast made a stylish entrance on the red carpet, with the iconic Mission: Impossible theme music playing live. An orchestra stationed at the end of the carpet and near the entrance of the screening hall created a dramatic and cinematic atmosphere. Take a look: There’s a live orchestra playing the #MissionImpossible8 theme on the red carpet for Tom Cruise, which never happens and is a sign that this is a big deal. Tom Cruise attends Masterclass at Cannes  The masterclass event at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival became even more special when Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance to celebrate his longtime friend and filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie, as per Deadline. Speaking about his admiration for McQuarrie, Cruise said, "I studied his career before we even met. I read his scripts, and what always struck me is that you could hear it, you could see it. I felt the filmmaker’s mind in the story — the craftsmanship of his work, where he's writing it editorially." Cruise also praised McQuarrie’s meticulous attention to detail and storytelling, calling the Mission: Impossible films “a Swiss watch” because of how intricately they are built. The duo has collaborated on over 11 films together, including Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow, and five Mission: Impossible installments. Cannes 2025 officially kicked off on May 13 and will run until May 24.

Kim Kardashian recounts her robbery incident from Paris Fashion Week 2016

American media personality Kim Kardashian delivered her testimony in a Paris courtroom in a case related to the robbery incident during the Paris Fashion Week in 2016. She recounted the traumatising incident where, in the middle of the night, the accused burst into her hotel room and restrained her at gunpoint. As per Variety, the robbers accused of holding Kim Kardashian at gunpoint in her hotel room and stealing 6 million USD worth of jewellery were face-to-face with her Tuesday, as the mogul delivered her testimony in a Paris courtroom. While recounting the harrowing incident, the media personality Kardashian said that, wearing only a bathrobe, she was zip-tied and her mouth was taped shut, as quoted by an article of the Washington Post. "I was certain that was the moment that he was going to rape me. I absolutely did think I was going to die," said Kardashian as quoted by the Washington Post. The thieves originally arrived at the hotel dressed as police officers and handcuffed a concierge before swarming into Kardashian's room. "I thought it was some sort of terrorist attack," said Kardashian as quoted by the Washington Post. She also described praying for her family and friends as she thought she wasn't going to live through the incident, telling the robbers at one point. In her testimony, Kardashian said one of the robbers pointed a gun at her head and dragged her to the bathtub, while another robber pointed towards her hand for the jewellery, reported Variety. According to Variety, the ten thieves on trial--the bulk of whom were in their 60s and 70s -- have been dubbed "the grandpa robbers" by the French press, as reported by the outlet. There were originally twelve accused of the crime, but one died before the trial, and one was excused due to illness. As per Variety, the robbers reportedly traced Kardashian's whereabouts through her social media use. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. French actor Gerard Depardieu sentenced to 18 months in prison

French actor Gerard Depardieu was convicted of sexual assault against two women and has received an 18-month prison sentence from a Paris court on Tuesday, reported Variety. The verdict stems from sexual assault charges filed by two women, a set decorator and an assistant director, who worked on the shoot of "The Green Shutters" in 2021. According to the outlet, the prosecutor had requested an 18-month suspended sentence following a four-day trial during which Depardieu refuted all accusations. Prosecutors also requested the court to fine the actor and obligate him to undergo psychological treatment, as well as have him registered in the sex offenders' file, reported Variety. As per the outlet, the assistant director reported in her complaint that Depardieu had touched her buttocks in the street, then touched her breasts a few days later on location and touched her buttocks again on another occasion. However, Depardieu refuted the sexual assault charges and said, "I may have grazed it with my back in the corridor, but I didn't touch (her buttocks)," Depardieu was quoted in Le Monde newspaper, as stated by Variety. The prosecution, led by Laurent Guy, emphasised that the plaintiffs had maintained their original accounts throughout the trial, while Depardieu's version of events had changed. The prosecutor pointed to eyewitness testimony that confirmed sexual assault had occurred."We have three eyewitnesses to the gestures made against Amelie at the crucial moment. This undeniably constitutes sexual assault," Guy said, as per Deadline. As part of a separate case, the famous French actor has been, since Dec. 16, 2020, indicted over allegations of rape and sexual assault filed by actress Charlotte Arnould in 2018. The actor has denied these allegations as well, according to Deadline. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a rare remark about ex-wife Maria Shriver

Former professional bodybuilder and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger made a rare remark about his ex-wife Maria Shriver while addressing Amazon's Upfront 2025 Presentation in the New York City.  Talking about his forthcoming holiday movie, "The Man With the Bag", Schwarzenegger brought up another one of his seasonal classics, "Jingle All the Way". “Jingle All the Way was the greatest Christmas movie of all time. They play it the whole month of December," he said. "I know because my ex-wife calls me about the residual," he added jockishly. Previously, Schwarzenegger shed light on his dynamic with Shriver during a conversation with PEOPLE, saying, “We never left the [first] chapter. Because remember, it’s not like we had a feud. We didn’t have a fight. It’s just my f--- up, right? She said, 'Okay, this is what it is,' and then she decided to make a split, so it was her decision." "But the fact is, we always made it very clear that the kids should not suffer because of that," Schwarzenegger added. "My chapter with Maria will continue on forever. Even though it’s a different relationship, there’s no reason for me to feel anything other than love for her," he shared. The 'Terminator' actor got divorced from Shriver in December 2021. The couple has four kids together- Katherine, Christina, Patrick, and Christopher. Months before Shiver had filed for divorce, Schwarzenegger admitted in public that he had a son named Joseph Baena with the family's longtime housekeeper, Mildred Baena. Coming to "The Man With the Bag", the film has been directed by Adam Shankman. Penned by Allan Rice, the project stars Alan Ritchson, Awkwafina, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Adrian Martinez, Jane Krakowski, and Ken Jeong in prominent roles, along with others. Cannes 2025: Jury member Halle Berry skips Gaurav Gupta gown due to THIS reason

For her Cannes 2025 appearance, one of the jury members, Halle Berry, had entrusted Gaurav Gupta with designing an amazing outfit for her. The Indian designer followed the memo, but Berry had to ditch the ensemble at the last minute due to the new rule in place. Halle Berry’s last-minute outfit change New regulations banning nudity on the red carpet, as well as long dress trains, forced Berry to leave behind her stunning gown specially crafted for the occasion, as the train was too big. Talking about the last-minute wardrobe change, the Oscar winner told reporters, "I had an amazing dress to wear tonight by Gupta, and I cannot wear it because the train is too big." She further added, "Of course, I'm going to follow the rules." Celebs broke the rules on the red carpet While the jury member decided to make last-minute changes to her outfit to abide by the rules, many visibly didn’t care. German model Heidi Klum appeared at the opening ceremony in a striking pink gown featuring a long train at least three metres (10 feet) long. Chinese actress and influencer Wan Qianhui also turned up in a grand white gown with a sweeping train. Robert De Niro was bestowed with the honorary Palme d'Or One of the biggest moments of Day 1 at the grand event came when veteran actor Robert De Niro was bestowed with the honorary Palme d'Or for Lifetime Achievement on Tuesday evening (midnight in India). The Palme d'Or was presented to De Niro by actor and film producer Leonardo DiCaprio at the festival’s opening ceremony. Kevin Spacey joins action thriller 'The Awakening' cast

Oscar winner Kevin Spacey has joined the cast of the upcoming conspiracy action-thriller 'The Awakening,' reported Variety. The movie is directed by Matt Routledge. Announced last year, the film stars Peter Stormare, Alice Eve, Steve Berkoff, Julian Glover, Matt Hookings and former World's Strongest Man Eddie Hall. The movie will be launched by Pia Patatian's Cloud9 worldwide at Cannes 2025. According to Variety, the film follows Jason (Tinto) and Rebecca (Eve) as they uncover a conspiracy to control the world. Their investigation leads them into a maze of secrets, making their quest to expose the truth a thrilling race against time. The film is being produced by Camelot Films, which also financed the movie alongside Tinto. The movie is currently in the post-production stage. The screenplay of the film is co-written by Tinto, Routledge and Matt Hookings, reported Variety. This upcoming movie appears to be another rebound for the actor after he was acquitted of sexual charges in 2023, reported Variety. Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has been found not guilty of all charges following a four-week trial in London on allegations of sexual assault, as per CNN. The jury at Southwark Crown Court found the 64-year-old Hollywood star not guilty of two counts of other serious sexual offences and seven counts of sexual assault. He was in tears when the verdict was announced. The allegations concerned Spacey's tenure as artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in the British capital from 2004 to 2013. He pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. After deliberation over three days, Spacey was found not guilty. Since he was acquitted of all nine sexual offence charges in a U.K. criminal trial in 2023, Spacey has added a few -- mostly European -- credits to his name, including 'Control' and 'Peter Five Eight', reported Variety. Scarlett Johansson wanted her 'Jurassic World Rebirth' character to be ‘sparkly’

Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson had certain plans for her character in 'Jurassic World Rebirth'. The actress wanted it to be "a little bit sparkly". The 40-year-old star leads the cast of the new movie in the dinosaur franchise and was keen for her covert operations expert Zora Bennett to possess the sense of "warmth" that she has seen in others in similar fields, reports ‘Female First UK’. Scarlett told ‘Empire’ magazine "I've met with many members of the armed forces and worked with the USO (United Services Organizations), and the people I've met who are at the highest level of security clearance all really share a certain kind of sense of humour, a warmth. So I wanted Zora to have that”. As per ‘Female First UK’, the 'Black Widow' star explained that her alter ego is world-weary before the events of 'Jurassic World Rebirth', which is released in cinemas in July and centres on a crack team's attempts to create a life-saving drug. Scarlett said, "I like to think of her as an operator. She's ex-military, who works for independent contractors. She's hired to do extractions. She's kind of burnt out when we find her. So when this opportunity comes along, it's very hard to pass up, because it means a chance for her to have a shot at another kind of life”. Theactress has long been a fan of the sci-fi action series and explained that a meeting with original 'Jurassic Park' director Steven Spielberg convinced her that she was the right person to take centre stage in a new era for the franchise. She recalled, "It was a very long, wonderful meeting that we had to begrudgingly leave because we both have families. He really confirmed my huge fandom for the franchise and the opportunity (this film provided) for newness”. Scarlett enjoyed collaborating with screenwriter David Koepp and filmmaker Gareth Edwards as she sought to make her character "complex" in the flick – which also features Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey.
