Govinda ruled Bollywood in the 90s, starring with all the big actors and sharing screen space with leading actresses like Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, and others. But he has been on a long hiatus and is not quite active, unlike his contemporaries including Anil Kapoor. But why so? His wife Sunita Ahuja blames his peers for this. As per Sunita, his company and friends don’t show him the right path.
Sunita Ahuja on Govinda's hiatus
In an interview with Zoom, Sunita talked about missing seeing Govinda on screen and shared, “I always tell Govinda that you are a legend star, aap 90s ke raaja the. Today’s generation of kids dances to your songs. I keep asking him to have better company. Why is a legend like you sitting at home? Actors of your age are doing so much work, including Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, and Jackie Shroff. Why don’t you work? We miss seeing Govinda in films."
Further blaming his allies, she shared, “The company and friends you are hanging out with are not saying what’s good for you, bas haan mein haan milaate hain, they don’t mean well for him. I want to say to these so-called friends of his – Govinda even helps you financially, why don’t you show him the right path?"
It’s hard to change yourself with the times, and for Sunita, Govinda has been lacking in adapting to the new. Talking about it, she shared, “90s is gone, it’s 2025. 90s ke style ki movie koi nahi dekh raha. Uski zindagi barbaad kyun kar rahe ho do kaudi ke paison ke liye? Tell him to lose weight or look handsome. We feel bad that such a legendary actor is sitting at home. Film industry mein actors ko apni waah-waahi sunna achha lagta hai, they don’t want to listen to the truth. 90s mein waah-waahi thi, Govinda jaisa koi actor nahi hai, but he has to do good films and choose good directors. He is lacking there."

It was earlier reported that Sunita is in talks for the next season of the popular reality show, Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives. A source informed IANS, “We heard Sunita Ahuja is going to be considered for the upcoming season of The Fabulous Housewives. She has been someone the audiences have truly loved, and her fan following has increased by the day.”
