KIIT suicide row: Heartbroken father calls for justice - Watch video

Tension broke out on the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) campus in Odisha after the body of a third-year student from Nepal, Prakriti Lamsal, 20, was found in her hostel room. Authorities confirmed that the BTech student died by suicide. Following the discovery, dozens of Nepali students gathered and protested, later claiming they were evicted from the campus. Initially, KIIT instructed over 500 Nepali students to leave the campus, creating further distress, but later reversed this decision. Prakriti took her her own life due to a troubled relationship with a male student at KIIT. Social media posts have emerged suggesting that Prakriti Lamsal was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend Advik Shrivastav before her tragic death. Her cousin has also filed a complaint alleging that she was being blackmailed by a male student at KIIT, which led her to take her own life. On the evening of February 16, police apprehended Srivastava near Biju Patnaik International Airport, with reports indicating he was trying to leave Bhubaneswar. A flight ticket from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata, dated February 16 and bearing his name, surfaced online, fueling speculation that he might have been attempting to flee following Lamsal`s death. Srivastava has since been arrested and charged under Section 108 of the Indian Penal Code for abetment of suicide. The father of the deceased has now demanded justice for his daughter....
