Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has received a death threat from "ISIS Kashmir", according to reports.

The threat made Gambhir approach the Delhi Police and ask them to act on it with immediate effect.

In response to the alarming situation, Gambhir formally submitted a request for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR), according to the SHO Rajinder Nagar Police Station and the DCP of Central Delhi.

He also urged law enforcement authorities to take necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of his family.

Considering the seriousness of the threat, the Delhi Police are expected to investigate the matter and implement all the required safety measures to protect the former cricketer and his family.

On April 22, Gambhir reportedly received two threatening emails--one in the afternoon and another in the evening--both containing the message "IKillU."

This is not the first time Gautam Gambhir has received death threats. The veteran of Team India also received a similar email in November 2021.

Meanwhile, Gambhir on Tuesday took to X (formerly Twitter), Gambhir condemnned the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The brutal attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday left 26 civilians dead after terrorists opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran meadow, making it one of the most horrific incidents since the 2019 Pulwama terror strike.

"Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike," Gambhir wrote on his X platform.

Currently, Gambhir has been set free from the coaching duties of the national team till the conclusion of the ongoing IPL 2025. The league's final match will be played on May 25.

Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sacked assistant coach Abhishek Nayar after the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Following his snub, the former Mumbai cricketer has joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mid-season of the IPL 2025.
