The temple was adorned with 40 quintals of flowers, enhancing the grandeur of the occasion and setting a spiritual tone for the Char Dham Yatra 2025. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj described the event as a moment of national joy and urged pilgrims to experience the spiritual bliss the dham offers.
The official commencement of the Char Dham Yatra began on 30 April with the opening of Gangotri and Yamunotri on Akshaya Tritiya, followed by Kedarnath on 2 May. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed devotees at Badrinath and prayed for the safe passage of all pilgrims undertaking the journey.
The Chief Minister also reviewed arrangements on-site, interacted warmly with devotees, and emphasised that the welfare of visitors remains the state’s top priority. He stated that significant development work is underway, including the Badrinath master plan, all-weather road connectivity, and approved ropeway projects for Kedarnath and Hemkunt.
CM Dhami further shared that Rs 1,700 crore had been sanctioned for the reconstruction and stabilisation of Joshimath following the subsidence crisis in early 2023. Over 22 lakh pilgrims have already registered for the Char Dham Yatra at the Rishikesh Transit Camp, reflecting the enduring devotion to the pilgrimage.

Dharmadhikari Radha Krishna Thapliyal noted that prayers were first offered on behalf of the nation before the sanctum doors were opened to the public. Devotees described the experience as peaceful and emotionally uplifting, with the crisp mountain air and divine atmosphere adding to the reverence of the day.
