Indian naval warships have successfully executed multiple anti-ship firings, further demonstrating their preparedness for long-range precision strikes, officials reported on Sunday. The drills were conducted amidst rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 individuals, primarily tourists, on April 22, 2025.

As per PTI, the successful firing exercises were carried out by various Indian Navy ships, which aimed to revalidate and showcase the readiness of both the platforms and the personnel for offensive strikes over long distances. An Indian Navy official confirmed that the drills were a critical part of their ongoing operational preparedness. The exercises allowed the Navy to ensure that both the platforms and the systems were fully capable of performing their functions with the utmost efficiency.

"Indian Navy Ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate the readiness of platforms, systems and crew for long-range precision offensive strike," said the official. The drills, which involved a series of rigorous tests, reaffirmed the Navy's capability to engage in precision-targeted strikes if necessary. The successful completion of the exercise highlights the advanced capabilities of India's naval forces and its ability to defend the country's maritime interests under any circumstances.

The Indian Navy has consistently focused on upgrading its capabilities to ensure the safety and security of the nation's maritime borders. The Navy official added, "Indian Navy stands combat-ready, credible and future-ready in safeguarding the nation's maritime interests anytime, anywhere, anyhow."

The firing drills come at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan are escalating, particularly after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Tensions remain high along the LoC even as security forces intensified anti-terror operations in the Kashmir valley.

"On the night of 26-27 April 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in the areas opposite Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors.

The Indian Army responded effectively to the Pakistan Army firing along the Line of Control (LoC) on the night of April 26-27 in areas opposite the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors, officials said.

Meanwhile, Kulgam Police, in a coordinated operation with the Army and CRPF, arrested two terrorist associates and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
