India planning military action in next 24-36 hours, will face consequences: Pakistan Minister

Pakistan on Wednesday claimed it had received "credible intelligence" suggesting that India was planning military action against it within the next 24 to 36 hours, and warned New Delhi of serious consequences, according to a report by news agency PTI.

Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar accused the Indian government of preparing for an attack based on what he described as "baseless and concocted allegations" linking Pakistan to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Tarar reiterated that Pakistan itself had long been a victim of terrorism and had consistently condemned it in all forms. He said Islamabad had offered a "credible, transparent, and independent" investigation by a neutral commission of experts, but alleged that India was avoiding such a probe and instead opting for a confrontational approach.

Calling for international attention, the Pakistani government urged the global community to remain vigilant. It warned that any act of military aggression by India would be met with a "decisive and assured" response. Pakistan further stated that the responsibility for any escalation and its fallout would "squarely lie with India," PTI reported.

Indian Army effectively retaliates to "unprovoked" small firing by Pakistan

The Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked small-arms firing during the intervening night of April 29 and 30 from its posts across the Line of Control (LoC) in multiple sectors of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting a swift and proportionate response from the Indian Army, according to Indian Army.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Indian Army reported that Pakistani forces targeted Indian positions in the Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors in the Jammu region. Later updates confirmed that similar ceasefire violations were also recorded further north in Baramulla and Kupwara districts, as well as across the International Border (IB) in the Pargwal sector.

"During the night of 29-30 April, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control opposite the Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors. Indian Army troops responded swiftly and proportionately," the Army stated.

Further, Pakistan extended the firing to additional locations across the LoC in Baramulla and Kupwara, in north Kashmir, along with the Pargwal sector along the IB. The Indian Army maintained that its troops retaliated appropriately to all such violations.

This is the sixth consecutive day of India's effective relations since the Pakistan Army's unprovoked small arms firing on the night of 25-26.
