Markets recover early lost ground; trade higher on foreign fund inflows

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty bounced back after falling in early trade on Wednesday amid sustained foreign fund inflows and a rally in the US markets. The 30-share BSE benchmark gauge declined 232.51 points to 80,055.87 in early trade. The NSE Nifty dipped 67.15 points to 24,268.80. Later, both the benchmark indices recovered the early lost ground and were trading in the positive territory. The Sensex traded 76.72 points higher at 80,365.10, and the Nifty quoted 23.30 points up at 24,359.25.

A two-year-long chase for a serial fraudster who vanished after duping people of crores of rupees ended in Delhi, thanks to Mumbai police's sharp phone surveillance. The accused, who had been constantly changing numbers to stay off the grid, was finally traced to a flat in Jangpura, in Delhi, where he was hiding with a struggling South Indian actress he was allegedly trying to launch into films using the stolen money. There is good news for the residents of Aarey Milk Colony who have long depended on Aarey Hospital. Officials from the Aarey chief executive's office told mid-day that the BMC has given an in-principle nod to operate the hospital. In October, mid-day had reported how over 1,00,000 residents in Aarey had access to just one government doctor.
