The drill is in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack and MHA directives to enhance preparedness. The exercise involves coordination among police, fire brigade, health services, RPF, and emergency units.
It began with an air raid siren by the Indian Air Force, followed by a simulated fire emergency. Key locations include CST, Colaba, Worli, Cuffe Parade, BARC in Chembur, and Tarapur.
Over 100 RPF, GRP, and MSF personnel took part in a full-scale evacuation and baggage scanning drill at CSMT. Citizens in South Mumbai are being briefed on wartime protocols and blackout procedures.
Blackouts will be enforced in select areas, with lights and mobile devices to be switched off during alerts. Authorities are urging the public to treat the drill seriously and avoid unnecessary movement during the exercise.
BMC’s disaster response system will remain on alert and will activate its network upon receiving signals. Schools, colleges, railways, airports and traffic operations are continuing as usual with specific emergency protocols in place.
