Today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall and possible thundershowers across Mumbai, with overcast skies already marking the start of the week. The warning comes as a welcome change from the harsh sunlight of the past few days, though residents should still expect warm and humid conditions.
By 9 am, the temperature was 29 degrees Celsius, with humidity touching 75 per cent and light winds moving at nearly 5 kilometres per hour. According to IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected through the coming days, but Monday could witness more pronounced showers by afternoon or evening.
Despite the overcast conditions, Mumbaikars can expect warm and sticky weather to persist. The minimum temperature today is likely to be around 26 degrees Celsius, with a maximum reaching up to 32 degrees Celsius. Tuesday, 6 May, is expected to bring more showers along with thunder, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai's Air Quality Index (AQI) stands at 54 today, which falls under the âSatisfactory' category, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). While this level is generally safe for the public, individuals with breathing issues are advised to reduce outdoor activity and wear masks if stepping out.
