Mother's Day 2025 | Mahhi Vij on trolling over foster vs biological kids: ‘They say I didn’t hold Khushi’s hand’

Becoming a foster parent to two children to give them the best life possible, only to be trolled relentlessly, can make anyone question their choices. For Mahhi Vij, this journey has been anything but easy. Despite showering her foster kids, Rajveer and Khushi, with the same love she gives her biological daughter Tara, she's been subjected to harsh judgment on social media. In a special Mother's Day interview with us at Mid-day, Mahhi opened up about how she's dealing with constant criticism online.

Mahhi Vij on online trolling

Mahhi shared how people dissect her reels and everything that she posts, and still question her parenting when it comes to Tara and Khushi. She said, "Even if I have a reel where I'm holding Tara and Khushi, and I go close to Tara, they say, ‘She has her own child, so look what she is doing. She didn't hold Khushi's hand and all'." On handling trolls, Mahhi said, "Trolling is part of social media. You do good, they'll troll you. You do bad, they'll troll you. It doesn't affect me anymore. They even trolled Khushi for wearing makeup."

How Rajveer and Khushi reacts to trolls

Rajveer and Khushi are grown-up kids now and are very much aware of what social media says about Mahhi. Speaking about how they take such judgment, Mahhi shared, "Khushi and Rajveer are pretty grown up to be able to watch YouTube. They read the comments, and they ask, ‘Mom, they're so bad. Are there such people in the world?' So, I tell them not to read."

The bond between three kids

For Mahhi, Tara, Rajveer, and Khushi are all equals. But how much do the two love the actress' biological daughter? Revealing the bond they share, Mahhi said, "Throughout my pregnancy with Tara, Khushi was my support. She supported me when I had to get shots; she would tell the nurse, ‘If you don't give the shot properly, we won't call you.' So, she was there throughout. Khushi and Rajveer were on cloud nine; they were very happy about having a baby. Many people told me there would be jealousy between them, but they are very careful about her. They are very loving and protective towards her."

Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali welcomed their daughter, Tara, on August 21, 2019. Before her birth, the couple had adopted two children, Rajveer and Khushi. Tara arrived eight years after their marriage.
