CID actor Shivaji Satam celebrates his 75th birthday
Veteran actor Shivaji Satam, popularly known for his role as ACP Pradyuman in the detective television series CID, celebrates his 75th birthday on April 21. The Byculla-born became a favourite across generations with his iconic run in the show that even got him memes with dialogues like "Kuch To Gadbad Hai" and "Daya Darwaza Tod Do". As Shivaji turns a year older, he speaks exclusively to Mid-day about plans for his special day, life lessons, and more.
The Nayak actor says that his celebrations will be simple despite the milestone. He states, "A close family affair with lamp lighting in front of God and seeking blessings for everyone. My kids do everything at home, and the best part is a special hug from my 11-year-old grandson, Yuvan. My son is visiting from London, so all the more a very happy family get together." When asked what his favourite food is to relish on this day, he adds, "Typical Maharashtrian varan bhaat toop (dal rice with ghee)."

Shivaji Satam, whose role as ACP Pradyuman continues to be adored even by youngsters who binge on the show's repeat telecast on TV. In a message for them, he says, "Dream big and work hard with full sincerity and commitment. Good things take a bit of a long time to happen, but they do happen."
Sharing the life lessons he's picked up along the way, the Sooryavansham actor asserts, "Hard work, honesty, sincerity, and commitment. Always trust in God and accept what is given to you with a smile. Everything - happy or sad. Just believe that there is a reason behind whatever happens, and it happens for the good."
For those unversed, Shivaji Satam's role as ACP Pradyuman on Netflix's CID was killed, and actor Parth Samthaan took over as ACP Ayushman. Satam's exit from the show was not well received by fans who demanded his return. CID went off-air in 2018 and made a grand return to television in 2024 due to popular demand. Satam has immortalised the role of Pradyuman since the show's inception in 1998.
