Tahawwur Rana, accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, was brought to the NIA headquarters. He arrived in India following extradition from the US.
The extradition was the result of sustained efforts by Indian authorities. Rana appeared before a Special NIA Court on Thursday evening.
He has been remanded in NIA custody for 18 days. The NIA will conduct detailed questioning during this period.
Authorities aim to unravel the full conspiracy behind the 2008 attacks. The 26/11 attacks left 166 dead and over 238 injured.
The NIA termed Rana a key conspirator in the attacks. Evidence presented includes emails sent by Rana to co-accused David Headley.
Headley had discussed operational details with Rana prior to visiting India. He exhausted all legal options to resist extradition.
