Former Team India cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that Virat Kohli should consider playing the upcoming Test series in England to end his illustrious career on a high.

Kaif shared his thoughts on social media, expressing that Kohli seems to be in a relaxed state and possibly contemplating retirement.

Kaif took to his official social media handle by saying, "Virat Kohli is in a relaxed mood. He is thinking about retirement. I think he should go to England, prove his point and end his career on a high note. Because the work he did in World Cup Finals, he should end his career on a good note. Why is he thinking about retirement out of helplessness? Because there was a game that had been troubling him for many years. Outswing ball. Where Outswing ball came, he was out many times." Kaif’s comments come amid reports that Kohli has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his intention to retire from Test cricket, according to ESPNcricinfo.

This news follows Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket. The 38-year-old announced his decision before the upcoming Test series against England, signalling the end of another era in Indian cricket.

Further speaking about Kohli, "It was such a trouble that he couldn't get over it. In his career, he went to England and got out there. In Australia, he got out here. At home, against New Zealand, he got out on a spin. He tried a lot," the 44-year-old former cricketer said.

India's five-match Test series against England is scheduled to begin on June 20. The series will also mark the start of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle for the Indian team.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Kohli has been in discussions with the BCCI about his future for over a month. Should he decide to step away, it would conclude a legendary Test career spanning 14 years, during which he amassed 9,230 runs in 123 Tests at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries. Kohli also remains India’s most successful Test captain, having led the side to 40 wins in 68 matches.
