Days after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, signs of recovery are slowly emerging. On 22 April 2025, militants ambushed a group of tourists, resulting in multiple casualties and widespread panic. A sharp decline in the tourist footfall and a temporary shutdown of local markets followed soon after. The shopkeepers rely heavily on seasonal tourism for their livelihood. Markets have reopened, though business remains slow.
