In the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, tensions are rising higher between India and Pakistan. The Indian Government on 3rd May imposed an immediate ban on the import of all goods—direct and indirect—from Pakistan. The move, announced via a Ministry of Commerce notification, is part of India`s wider counter-response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. The DGFT cited “national security and public policy” as the basis for the decision. The trade ban follows a series of strong diplomatic steps taken by India, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty and closing the Attari border.
