The tragic Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives, has drawn widespread international attention and support for India. Countries across the globe, including the US, UK, and several others, have expressed solidarity with India and have condemned the terror attack. Lisa Nandy, the UK Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, said, “The United Kingdom stands with the people of India against terrorism.” She had recently visited India, and during her trip, she emphasized the deep and historic ties between the two nations. Nandy confirmed that part of her visit was dedicated to signing a new cultural cooperation agreement between the UK and India. Later speaking about the attack, she said that, “Our Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, was very pleased to send his condolences directly to Prime Minister Modi and to the families of the victims of these appalling attacks. The UK stands with India against terrorism, always in whatever form it takes. We know the Indian nation is hurting because of the attack, and when you're hurting, we're hurting. I was honoured to join in a minute's silence to show our respect and support for India’s fight against terrorism,” according to ANI. On a positive note, Nandy also expressed her excitement about India hosting the 50-over Women’s Cricket World Cup later this year, the first time since 2013. During her visit, she met with members of the Indian women’s cricket team and praised their role in inspiring the next generation. She shared that the Indian women’s team will be visiting the UK this summer, alongside the men’s team. Nandy said she hopes these athletes will inspire young women in the UK, much like how the England Lionesses have encouraged more girls to take up football. Highlighting broader cooperation, Nandy added, “Across the creative industries, film, fashion, TV, music, gaming , the UK and India both excel. We already export so much to the world, but through collaboration, we can do even more. Our Science Museum Group has partnered with India’s National Museum Science Museums group on joint exhibitions and collaborations. We want people in both countries to benefit from these efforts. That’s the model we hope to replicate across all creative sectors, Nandy concluded,” according to the ANI. (With inputs from ANI)

04 May,2025 11:07 AM IST | New Delhi | ANIThis is the 10th consecutive day India has been responding strongly against Pakistan’s unprovoked small arms firing along the Line of Control on the night of April 25–26. Tensions continue to rise along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir as Pakistani troops continue to engage in unprovoked small arms firing. The firings, which began after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir, killed around 26 people including one Nepali citizen, has triggered a strong and retaliatory response from the Indian Army. The Indian Army stated that these provocations began on the night of April 24 2025, shortly after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and closed its airspace to Pakistani aircraft following the Pahalgam attack. Since then, the ceasefire violations have spread from northern Kashmir to the Jammu region. According to the reports the ceasefire violations were reported at eight sectors from five districts, which includes the districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and Jammu, during the night of May 3-4. The Indian Defence spokespersons confirmed that Indian troops responded "promptly and proportionately" to the aggression. According to the PTI, the Indian Army troops have responded in a calibrated and proportionate manner for these unprovoked firings which has led to the breaching of the ceasefire. These ceasefire breaches come despite a recent communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries, during which India issued a warning to Pakistan for its actions at the border. In response to the escalations, border villagers have begun preparing community and personal bunkers amid growing concerns of further conflict. Pakistan has also taken retaliatory diplomatic and economic steps, including suspending trade, closing the Wagah border, and warning against water diversion, calling it an "Act of War." According to the reports from PTI the ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) have been rare since India and Pakistan renewed their ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021. As a precaution, anxious border villagers have begun cleaning out their community and preparing personal bunkers for further taking the required steps, said officials.

04 May,2025 07:34 AM IST | Mangaluru | AgenciesIn the wake of China’s recent advancements in satellite control which have raised concerns among global space agencies, including the US Space Force, India is conducting advanced satellite “dogfighting” manoeuvres in space. The move is a strategic extension of ISRO’s ambitious SPADEX mission. This effort involves a chaser and target satellite orbiting 500 km above Earth, autonomously executing precision flight tactics. These coordinated movements, similar to fighter jet dogfights, demonstrate India’s growing capability in satellite manoeuvrability. ISRO’s satellites, travelling at over blistering 28,000 km per hour, have successfully performed rendezvous and proximity operations, marking a significant technological milestone. Prior to this high-speed engagement, a manually controlled circumambulation between the satellites was carried out. Meanwhile, ISRO has successfully executed power transfers between its satellites, proving their operational synchronisation. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies.
