On Sunday in a joint press conference, Director General for Air Operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti, revealed details of the operation, highlighting two key targets: Markaz Taiba, a Lashkar stronghold in Muridke, and Markaz Subhan Allah, the Jaish headquarters in Bahawalpur. Both were successfully targeted and destroyed, reported news agency ANI.
Operation Sindoor, led by the Indian Armed Forces on May 7, involved precise strikes that dismantled nine major terror camps associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), according to a report by news agency ANI.
According to ANI, out of the nine camps, five were located in PoK, while the remaining four were in Pakistan.
Explaining further, Air Marshal Bharti stated that the precision strikes were aimed at specific buildings within the terror camps, aligning with India’s commitment "not to inflict civilian casualties."
Among the destroyed camps in Pakistan, two were especially significant, as they served not only as residences for senior commanders but also as epicenters for radicalization and training in intelligence and arms handling for both Lashkar and Jaish operatives.
The Air Marshal showed four specific buildings in the Muridke camp that were targeted, resulting in the death of Mudassar Khadian Khas, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative in charge of Markaz Taiba. The four impact points in the Muridke camp were shown in three phases: before the attack, the targeted points, and after the attack.
He also showcased the damage inflicted on the Bahawalpur camp, which housed Hafiz Muhammad Jameel, the eldest brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar. Jameel, who was in charge of Markaz Subhan Allah, played a key role in radicalizing youth and fundraising for JeM, reported ANI.
Videos and photos evidence provided by the Indian Armed Forces reiterated India’s stance of only targeting terror camps, with minimal to no damage to civilian or military structures.
Meanwhile, Director General Military Operations, Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, stated during the press conference that over 100 terrorists were eliminated during Operation Sindoor, which was launched in retaliation for the April 22 terror attacks, ANI reported.
According to Ghai, the terrorists eliminated included individuals involved in the 1999 Indian Airlines Flight IC-814 hijacking and the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, according to ANI.
