In a nowcast warning issued at 9:35 pm, the IMD Mumbai said, "Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Thane, Palghar and Nashik during next 3-4 hours. Take precautions while moving out"
Earlier in the day, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday afternoon issued a 'yellow alert' for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and some other parts of Maharashtra, predicting thunderstorm and light rains
The IMD also predicted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds at isolated places in Raigad, Pune, Jalgaon, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur Beed, Jalna, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Latur, Amravati, etc
Some western suburbs, such as Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Andheri and Bandra received heavy showers, while parts of eastern suburbs and the island city witnessed light to moderate rain following a dust storm with gusty winds
Sudden rains also disrupted the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans being played at the Wankhede Stadium in south Mumbai, the covers were brought in flowing showers in the city on Tuesday night
