Diplomats from over 70 countries attended the gathering, representing global ties with Maharashtra. The reception was organised by the State Protocol Department, led by Protocol Minister Jaykumar Rawal.
In light of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the event was conducted in a solemn and respectful manner. All present observed a one-minute silence to pay tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam incident.
Governor Radhakrishnan and Minister Rawal personally greeted each diplomat and extended festive wishes. Dignitaries including Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde and ministers from tourism, agriculture, and skill development attended.
Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, DGP Rashmi Shukla, and BMC Administrator Bhushan Gagrani were also in attendance. The function reflected Maharashtra’s commitment to diplomacy, peace, and global cooperation.
National and state anthems were performed by the police band to commence the formal proceedings. Dr Prashant Narnavare, Secretary to the Governor, delivered the formal welcome address on behalf of the Governor.
