The Maharashtra Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) raided a cosmetic products manufacturing firm and a marketing company at Bhiwandi in Thane district, and seized merchandise worth Rs 3.47 lakh, officials said on Friday, according to PTI. The FDA conducted the raid at V D Healthcare`s premises on April 3 based on the information received by the intelligence branch of the government agency`s Mumbai office that the company was producing cosmetics illegally as it did not have a valid licence, an official release said.

The Maharashtra government`s environment department has asked the Mumbai suburban district collector and the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Mangrove Cell) to look into a complaint regarding the use of mangrove land in Borivali in the northern part of the metropolis for film shoots, news agency PTI reported. The directive was issued by Vishal Madane, under secretary of the environment department, following an email complaint received on February 23 from former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, which alleged encroachment and unauthorised use of land classified as green zone under Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms.

A 36-year-old man wanted in a murder case in Kolkata has been apprehended in Maharashtra`s Thane district, police said on Friday, according to PTI. Based on a tip-off, the police on Thursday nabbed the accused, Sirajuddin Ahmed Shah alias Captain, from the Pisvali area of Dombivili town, an official said.
