A private luxury bus travelling from Mumbai to Konkan overturned on a slope in Karnala, Raigad district, on Monday morning, leaving one passenger dead and 26 injured. The driver fled but has since been detained.

A 30-year-old man was killed and at least 26 passengers were injured when a private luxury bus overturned on a slope in Karnala, Raigad district, on Monday morning. The accident occurred as the bus, carrying 49 passengers, was on its way from Mumbai to the Konkan region, police said.
The incident took place around 6 am when the bus driver lost control while driving down a hilly stretch, causing the vehicle to overturn. Eyewitnesses said the bus toppled after skidding on the wet road, trapping several passengers inside.
The deceased has been identified as Amol Talwadekar, a resident of Rajapur. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Among the 26 injured, several passengers sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
"Amol Talwadekar died in the tragic incident, while 26 others have been injured. The bus toppled when the driver lost control on a slope," a police official confirmed.
Following the accident, the bus driver reportedly fled the scene, leaving the injured passengers behind. The driver has since been detained by Raigad police and is currently under investigation.
Four killed, six injured in road accident in MP's Bhind district
Four persons were killed and six others injured when a car overturned after hitting a motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district in the early hours of Monday, a police official said, as per PTI.
The incident took place around 1 am near Piodora village, he said.
A car on its way from Porsa to Bhind hit a motorcycle at a turn, killing all three persons on the two-wheeler at the scene, Barohi police station in-charge Atul Bhadoria said.
The car then overturned, leaving one of its occupants dead and six others injured, he said.
Of the injured victims, the condition of three is serious and they have been referred to Gwalior for treatment, he said.
The deceased have been identified as Sujan Singh (50), Biharilal Baghel (38), Rishikesh Singh (24) and Mehmood Khan (23), the official said.
Local MLA Narendra Singh Kushwaha, who was passing by the area at the time of the accident, helped in the rescue of the victims. The legislator also informed the police about the accident.
