Ajay Devgn and Yug Devgan
In a landmark move, Sony Pictures Entertainment India unites one of India’s most celebrated stars, Ajay Devgn, along with his son, Yug Devgan for their first-ever collaboration — and it's for a major Hollywood franchise. The duo lend their voices to the Hindi version of Karate Kid: Legends, which releases in theatres across India on May 30, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Yug to collaborate with father Ajay Devgn
Ajay Devgn voices the iconic character Mr. Han, portrayed by Jackie Chan, while Yug makes his much-anticipated debut as Li Fong, the film’s lead character originally played by Ben Wang. This marks Ajay Devgn’s first-ever voiceover for an international film in his illustrious career, while Yug brings a fresh and youthful spirit to a globally beloved franchise.
Their real-life bond adds emotional resonance to the film’s central theme — the relationship between a mentor and his protégé. Yug’s passion for the franchise, natural charisma, and voice impact make him a fitting choice to carry forward the Karate Kid legacy for a new generation of Indian audiences.
The casting of Ajay and Yug not only celebrates family and legacy but also symbolizes a generational crossover — bridging the iconic legacy of The Karate Kid with fresh new voices.
About Karate Kid: Legends
The movie takes place three years after the last season of Cobra Kai. It follows a young kung fu fighter, Li Fong (played by Wang), who moves from Beijing to New York City with his mother after a family tragedy. Struggling to adjust, Li Fong faces challenges at school and gets into fights, even though he tries to avoid trouble. When a friend needs his help, Li decides to enter a karate competition. But his kung fu skills alone are not enough.
To prepare, his teacher, Mr. Han (Chan), seeks help from Daniel LaRusso (Macchio). Together, they train Li, combining karate and kung fu to create a powerful new style.
Directed by Jonathan Entwistle, Karate Kid: Legends features a screenplay by Rob Lieber. The movie is produced by Karen Rosenfelt, with Ralph Macchio also serving as an executive producer. The cast includes Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, and Aramis Knight.
Sony Pictures Entertainment India releases Karate Kid: Legends in theatres on May 30, 2025, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
